Maureen McCafferty, MBA, MSW, CHE

Maureen has been coaching since 4th grade, when she entered a public speaking contest and talked about the Rocky Mountains and then whispered speaking tips to the next contestant. The other contestant won. Since then, her passion for people, personal and professional growth and advancing improvement has propelled her through more than 30 years as a healthcare leader. Healthcare partners rely on Maureen as a coach and a trusted advisor to propel them to higher levels of leadership, accountability and execution.

Professional Experience

Maureen has been a progressive and resourceful coach for Studer Group, working with many partners in the healthcare system in Ontario for the past three years. She builds strong relationships with partners and is respected as a coach and trusted advisor. Prior to joining Studer Group, she enjoyed more than 30 years of clinical and leadership roles in acute care, ambulatory and primary healthcare settings. Most recently as a senior director of patient services, Maureen was responsible for a wide range of corporate and clinical programs in acute care. She has partnered with physicians, senior executives and board members as a member of medical advisory committee and the quality committee of the board, focusing on improving patient quality, safety and patient experience, aligning metrics and building a high performance culture.

Signature Engagements

  • Led the development of the corporate acute care hospital quality framework, driving hospital accountability around key performance indicators and actions
  • Facilitated resolution of complex quality issues that impact patients and staff, resulting in the redesign of systems and organizational improvement
  • Provided expertise in directing work required under the Excellent Care for All Act (2010) and the Quality of Care Information Protection Act (2004)
  • Successfully led acute care hospitals through four Accreditation Canada cycles, achieving ‘ exemplary standing’, positive engagement and commitment to quality patient care
  • Was instrumental in continual assessment and renewal of risk management strategies throughout the organization
  • Led the creation of new service offerings in acute care hospitals around transition (discharge) planning, social work services, quality framework and reporting, patient safety and risk management
