Michael Coppola, FACHE
Mike Coppola brings nearly 30 years of experience to Studer Group, a Huron Solution. As the partner development leader for medical group coaching, Coppola has assisted healthcare organizations with comprehensive business management, strategic planning, physician practice management, revenue cycle management, financial management, de novo practice start-ups, physician relations and business development.
Professional Experience
Before joining Studer Group, Coppola was senior principal for Truven Health Analytics where he was a key leader in Physician Strategy and Services. During his leadership, he developed and launched the Physician Referral Management Solution for Truven. Prior to that, he was a senior vice president at PivotHealth Consulting where he led major assessments and operational improvement engagements in California, Pennsylvania and New Jersey along with health system physician integration projects. He was also the market vice president of physician services for Vanguard Health Systems; vice president and chief administrative officer for Health Directions, LLC; and, director of business development at Advocate Trinity and Bethany Hospitals.
Signature Engagements
- Launched Physician Referral Management consulting service generating more than $1 million in sales
- Established internal tracking of sales opportunities for Physician Referral Management program
- Lead practice assessment engagement for medical foundation identifying and implementing over $2 million in improvement opportunities
- Lead consultant for practice assessment and implementation of findings in a 200+ provider organization; targeted improvements from process redesign and revenue cycle management improvements exceeded $5 million
- Lead consultant for practice assessment of two foundation medical groups; targeted improvements from network expansion, revenue cycle management and physician productivity exceeded $6.13 and $3.8 million
- As market vice president with Vanguard, provided strategic direction and operational management for primary care and specialty physician practices, ancillary related services, facilities management, medical services components and management services organization
- Leader for two multi-specialty practices consisting of more than 80 FTE physicians in 15 locations with 200 employees
