OAS CAHPS is another upcoming government mandated survey aimed to improve our nation's quality of healthcare. The Outpatient and Ambulatory Surgery Survey Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (OAS CAHPS) will shift the outpatient perioperative landscape considerably. The survey measures patient experiences with their surgeries performed at hospital outpatient surgery departments (HOPDs) or ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs). The ability to create an "always" experience for patients is what will differentiate and set you apart from your competitors.
National voluntary reporting is expected to extend through 2018 with public reporting of data through CMS beginning 2019.
Preparing now for the future will allow you to position your organization well for the upcoming mandatory reporting, but more importantly, will assist your team in being successful in achieving their desired ambulatory surgery goals. Studer Group has several solutions and tactics to aid in improvement efforts in your Outpatient Ambulatory Surgery areas, including execution of the Evidence-Based Leadership framework and Must Haves® tactics.
