St. Catherine Hospital is a 211-bed acute care facility with a 90-year legacy of being at the forefront of medical progress and change. Part of Community Healthcare System since 2001, the hospital’s ongoing goal is to provide comprehensive services to make healthcare stronger and improve the quality of life in Northwest Indiana.

St. Catherine Hospital’s service-oriented approach to care and our commitment to Studer principles by staff has led to top national rankings in healthcare, according to Swenson. HCAHPS scores exceed the 80th percentile in the majority of the domains. Additionally, the hospital consistently achieves mean scores in excess of 95 for the ambulatory and outpatient settings. Swenson, credits the staff’s and managers’ commitment to patient engagement and consistent use of evidence-based practices for the team’s success.

St. Catherine Hospital is the only hospital in Northwest Indiana and one of less than 100 in the nation to receive a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in 2016 and 2017.

The hospital has had “A” grades in Patient Safety from The Leapfrog Group over many years. The American Heart | American Stroke Association awarded its Get With the Guidelines® Gold-Plus | Target: Strokeā„  Honor Roll status to the hospital in 2017 and 2018. St. Catherine Hospital also has received Women’s Choice Awards for Heart Care and Patient Safety.
